HOW LONG BEEN IN THE HOBBY--------
-----Back in the 1940's and early 1950's
I lived in Cleveland Ohio. A few blocks
from my home on Lorain Ave was
Cleveland Models Hobby store. They
had kits on their shelves from most kit
manufactures at that time. Comet,
Cleveland, MONOGRAM speedee bilt,
Berkeley, Jim Walker's American
Junior and others. I built many rubber
powered kits from that store. My first
fuel CL plane was a Jim Walker's
Firebaby. I have been in the hobby many
years.
Related to this hobby was the
restoration of a 1947 Aeronca 7 AC
Champ I bought in 1983. The Champ
restoration was just like working on a
model airplane. I replaced all the wood
fuselage formers and stringers, control
cables and covered the plane parts
with Ceconite fabric, finishing it with
butyrate dope. I enjoyed flying the
Champ very much. I soloed in a Piper J-
3 CUB in 1958.

HOW YOU GOT STARTED IN R/C--------
In 1962 I was at the AMAs Navy Nats at
Glenview, Ill., Naval Air Station. There I
watched my first RC models in action
and I was hooked. I went to Stanton
Hobby Shop in Chicago and purchased
a CITIZEN-SHIP single channel radio,
Goldberg Jr Falcon kit and Cox 049
engine. I learned to fly R.C. models on
my own. Moving on to a Midwest
Esquire, Super Tiger 23 engine and a
Controlaire reeds radio. From there I
moved on to proportional radios.

PLANES  YOU ENJOY  ARF - BUILD UP –
SCRATCH OR  ELECTRIC--------
I enjoy building wood kit models. I have
built many planes from my own plans.
Sport and scale models are the ones I
enjoy most.

YOUR FAVORITE PLANE TO FLY--------
Jemco Models Fun scale 60 size P 51 D
Mustang. I still fly the one I built from a
kit over 30 years ago. It is the gray
plane in one of my photos. I enjoyed
flying it so I took some measurements
from the gray mustang and cut parts
and built the P-51 C razorback model in
the photo.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP OTHERS
WITH IN THE R/C HOBBY--------

I'll be glad to help anyone with whatever
I can.
